Pottery & Ceramicsback to all Programs
|Target Age Range:||7+ year-olds|
|Class Duration:||90 Minutes|
Teaching the principles of working in clay, instructors cover both hand building & wheel throwing techniques. Working with a potters wheel can be difficult at first and for the novice, a frustrating task. Our patient and encouraging instructors guide the students through this phase so that students can learn the basic skills of wheel throwing. Our unique curriuclum blends hand building & wheel throwing so that students progress in a structured classroom.
Far more enjoyable than just painting pieces, students experience creating their own pottery. Students will learn basic skills of:
- Wheel throwing
- Hand building
- Throwing, trimming & glazing their own pieces
From the early stages of cups, bowls and plates to more advanced pieces, students progress at their own pace. As a student advances with each semester, they begin to work both independently and with the help of the instructor, to start to work on more complex pieces. Classes are for all levels, beginners to advanced, and for all ages are welcome to attend.
Advanced students should consider our Practicum Series Ceramics/Sculture course. See Programs for more details.
