|Class Duration:||HALF DAY|
This course will introduce and develop touch-typing skills - the ability to compose text without looking at the keyboard. With the skills students master here, they’ll become faster and more confident at the keyboard... an increasingly critical technological tool for students in their schoolwork. Along with lessons in creative writing this camp also encourages students to illustrate their work.

In these lessons, you’ll use the Ultra Key 6 software-based program, a typing tutorial designed for personal computers, to learn how to touch-type—that is, to type text you read from a printed page or a computer screen without looking at your keyboard. To hone their keyboarding and creative writing skills, students will learn to write and edit short stories of their own creation and basic digital document processing while all along the way improve their keyboarding speed and accuracy. Oh yeah... they will get a chance to illustrate their short stories! Lessons include learning to how use popular document programs (Word & Pages).
